On March 19th, 2024, over 20 members of the Apex body of Women in Poultry Value Chain (WIPVaC-Apex Ghana) and African Women in Animal Resources Farming and Agribusiness Network (AWARFA -N Ghana) underwent a capacity building on Digital Marketing training themed “Digital Marketing: Instagram advertising” funded by Star Ghana Foundation.

The topic Digital Marketing has garnered increasing attention in recent years, as policymakers and youth alike seek to understand and address the importance and complexity of digitalization to be on par with the rest of the world. This report provides insight on a capacity building by WIPVaC-Apex on the role of Digital Marketing i.e. Instagram Advertising to the women in their businesses geared towards increasing market reach and profits while crushing into smithereens the barriers that continue to hinder women’s advancement in this Digital age.

Fun-thrilled activities by the facilitators made room for the women to grasp the concept and honed them with creative content creation skills. The women were taken through general Digital communication and social media ethics as a pre-empt for the topic (Instagram Advertising). Guided steps on Instagram account creation followed suit. The women were then methodically taken through Instagram (i.e. stories, feeds, reels and captions). Groups were formed in the aftermath of the training for practical content creation be made.
