9TH ANNUAL PRE-HARVEST IN NORTHERN REGION, TAMALE

“OBJECTIVE: EAT GHANA CHICKEN”

The Annual Pre-harvest Exhibitions and Conference has become one of the leading and highly impactful interventional events on the Ghanaian Agribusiness calendar. It seeks to accelerate the transformation of agribusiness in Northern Ghana with Government’s initiatives, a strong drive by agro-processors to source raw materials locally, a growing band of agribusiness entrepreneurs, and lessons from development partner interventions. This year’s 9th Annual Pre-harvest Agribusiness Exhibition and Conference was organised in the Northern region of Ghana precisely Tamale at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on the 25^th – 27^th September, 2019, under the theme: Market Accessibility: The Structured and Sustainable Pathway,

This programme sort to

Establish market linkages where farmers and buyers are brought together to network
Gain a better understanding of the sector, the challenges and opportunities for doing agribusiness
Access practical and realistic experiences via carefully selected case studies
Exhibit to promote and showcase Ghanaian product to a wider audience, especially Ghana Chicken.

Within these three days of the programme, The Apex Body of Women In Poultry Value Chain (WIPVaC-Apex) in collaboration with the Pre-harvest Event Organizers came into an agreement to serve Ghana Chicken as a means to practicalise the “Eat Ghana Chicken Campaign”. WIPVaC-Apex implemented this activity and used the opportunity to intensify the campaign to eat Ghana Chicken.

The campaign was championed by the Northern regional chapter of WIPVaC with assistance from representatives of the other regional chapters.

The 9th Annual Pre-harvest Agribusiness Exhibition and Conference was organized by Agrihouse Foundation, in partnership with USAID ADVANCE, UKaid, the MADE Programme, Yara Ghana, Ecobank, Kosmos Energy, the Northern Regional Coordinating Council and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
