7TH ALL AFRICAN CONFERENCE ON ANIMAL AGRICULTURE (7TH AACA)
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture partnered with Agrihouse Foundation to introduce and hold the maiden edition of the Livestock, Poultry and Fisheries Tradeshow. (LiPF 2019),
The Livestock, Poultry and Fisheries Tradeshow provides a platform for farmers to increase their production ratio of outputs to inputs. The show therefore brings together all the major players offering products and services to the industry. Aside the exhibition there were training workshops which helped to coach participants on how to start, increase or improve their production by using proven best practices and techniques. The event was held at the Accra International Conference Centre from the 29th -31st July, 2019
The event which was under the theme “Innovations to Harness the Potential of African Animal Agriculture in a Globalizing World” seeked to provide an opportunity for scientists and other stakeholders in the Animal Agriculture Sector to discuss the potential Role of Innovation in Animal Agriculture to Improve The Livelihoods of Africans.
The Apex Body of Women In Poultry Value Chain (WIPVaC-Apex) was in attendance to exhibit their various products and also to network with other individuals in the sector. In addition, WIPVaC- Apex held a training workshop on Profitable Pullet Production and Investment opportunities.
The event was also to to bring on board prospective farmers interested in the poultry business but do not have the technical knowledge, thus adding more mentees to the association.
Amidst these activities, was the launch of the African Women in Animal Resource Farming Agribusiness Network (AWARFA-N). This is an initiative to bring together all women in animal resource farming and agribusiness such as piggery, rabbitry, snail farming, ruminants etc under one big umbrella for productivity and sustainability of the livestock sector.
This year’s event was organized by The All Africa Society for Animal Production (AASAP) in conjunction with the Ghana Society of Animal Production (GSAP), Ghana Animal Science
Association (GASA), Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) and under the auspices of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in Ghana..
