On Wednesday, 3rd October, 2018 the Apex Body of Women in the Poultry Value Chain (WIPVaC-Apex) joined the three Northern Regions to participate in the 8th Annual Pre- Harvest Event and also to launch the chapters. The event was held at the AliuMahama Sport Stadium in Tamale.
The program was a national one as government officials and dignitaries were present from all Regions. Various products and produce made from the three Northern Regions and all over Ghana were showcased. WIPVAC also exhibited its poultry products such as live birds, eggs, feeds, day old chicks and etc.
WIPVaC-Apex in collaboration with the Ghana Poultry Project (GPP)used the event as a platform to embark on the “Eat Ghana Chicken” campaign.
The occasion was graced by dignitaries such as Carianne de Boer, the Chief of Party – Ghana Poultry Project (GPP), Madam Comfort Acheampong – AMPLIFIES Ghana, HajiaAlimaSagilo Saeed- Ghana Women Network, John Manful – MOFA, Nene Terkpertey – Ghana National Association of Poultry Farmers (GNAPF), Dr. Majeed, CEO – Northern Development Authority, Mr. Albert Dewura, CEO – DEP, Representatives from WIAD, Gender Ministry, National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) etc.
The Keynote Address was delivered by the HonourableNurahGyiele, the Minister of State in charge of Agriculture on the theme, Women as Agent in Transforming Agriculture Through the Poultry Value Chain. In his address, he encouraged the newly formed chapters to achieve greater feats and encouraged the women to join this well-meaning Association for sustainable business.
The Minister also launched the Chapters and inaugurated their respective executive bodies.
In all, over three hundred (300) people graced the inaugural ceremony.
