2021 Undertaken Projects
The Association has indeed become an umbrella for the women along the Value Chain which includes women aggregators of maize and Soya, women suppliers of day old Chicks, women who deal in poultry inputs such as fishmeal, concentrates, poultry drugs and poultry feed, the women poultry farmers, egg sellers and distributors of local Chicken, guinea fowl and chicken products and processors.
As part of its objectives for the year, the Association embarked on various activities such as 2021 International Women’s Day Celebration with the global campaign theme of “Women in Leadership-Achieving an equal future of the Poultry Value Chain in a COVID-19 world that seeks to provide important opportunities for ground breaking actions that can drive greater change for women to close the gender gap most especially in the COVID-19 era. This day was celebrated through donations to the Female prisons across the country.
During the year under review, the Association through the support of USDA-GPP and other organizations and the commitment of both members and Executives achieved goals including
- Establishment of Entrepreneurship Savings and Loans Groups (ESLG) in Greater Accra, Ashanti and erstwhile Brong Ahafo regions.
- Sensitization on the Egg Pictorial Standard to promote good egg quality.
- Sensitization on Biosecurity Certification Program
- Knowledge Sharing Platform for all established ESLG under GPP.
The Association also received support from the American Soybean Association/ World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (ASA/WISHH) through a capacity building workshop on Operational Financial Management. This was geared towards improving the knowledge of members in their finances and record keeping skills.
The PARSE project (funded through a Fleming Fund regional grant and hosted by the Department of Medical Microbiology, University of Ghana Medical School) aimed to implement Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) surveillance in Ghana using a One Health Approach and was implemented in collaboration with WIPVaC-Apex Ghana
In view of the above, WIPVaC-Apex Ghana was contracted to help organize a meeting with poultry farmers to discuss the project in preparation for specimen collection from individual farms. The meetings were organized in Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Adentan Metropolitan Assembly and Ayawaso East Metropolitan Assembly.
Towards the end of the year, WIPVaC-Apex Ghana held its 2020 Annual General Meeting.
The meeting was held on 2nd December, 2021 at Nokaans Hotel in Cape Coast. In attendance were three (3) Executives/representatives from each region to form a quorum.

- Overview of 2020 Audited accounts/ Appointment of External Auditors
- Constitutional matters
- National Elections.
- Upcoming Regional Elections
At the end of the elections, new National Executives were inaugurated.
